As we are in the midst of the holiday season, decorations are back up at the Illinois Capitol Rotunda. The Satanic Temple (TST) of Illinois’ showcase display is a crocheted snake wrapped around a basket of apples and a book.
This is the third year that the Satanic Temple of Illinois has put up a display at the state Capitol Rotunda. Previous years displays included a hand holding an apple with a serpent wrapped around the wrist, and a baby Baphomet. The Temple is using the same laws that allow any religious displays, as long as they are not paid for by the state of Illinois.
Members said that the display was designed to bring attention to the controversy over banned books over the past year.
